The Danish composer, Matthew Frandsen, began his musical career as a marching band drummer. Later he took up playing classical percussion, piano and composing. He has composed for a range of instruments, and the hallmarks of his compositions are rhythmic drive, horizontal lines and lobsided chords, besides text written by himself. The texts are about human nature, interaction and especially one’s relation to the disadvantaged. Matthew Frandsen studied composition at The Royal Academy of Music Aarhus, with Simon Steen-Andersen as teacher, and public health science at the University of Copenhagen.
